25 Photos of Christmas

There’s a trend going around Instagram, a challenge to post a photo a day for a month. Each day has a particular theme or suggestion. It’s fun to follow and see what a variety of people come up with for, say, “Turkey” or “autumn”.

Such a wonderfully interactive way to share your world, so I’ve designed my own photo challenge. Care to participate? All you need is a cell phone camera and your own Instagram account.

Starting December 1st, just add the hashtags #FranklyMyDearMojo and #25PhotosofChristmas to your photos and let’s have fun!

“What’s the Word?” Wednesday: October 17, 2012

I’m healthiest when I’m writing: it’s cathartic, imaginative, organizational, therapeutic. I just love writing. And lately, I love photography. With two brothers who are professional photographers and a daughter who’s a natural, you’d think it would be easy for me. But it’s not. So I spent the better part of a thirty minute phone call with one of my brothers having him explain the simplest terms like aperture and shutter-speed. Now that I have a basic understanding of this and more (automatic white balance, anyone?), I’m very excited to see great improvements here at Frankly, My Dear…

For instance…

And THIS

Pretty cool, eh?

I certainly think so!

My brother checked out my camera online. I was crazythrilled when he said, “(Almost an expletive!) Mol! You’ve got a great camera!” Coming from a professional, that’s sayin’ something. Now all I need is this:

For this week, I’ll start with reading more of the owner’s manual. Anything I can’t interpret? I’ve got an app for that: I call it the iBrother.

“What’s the Word?” Wednesdays is a link-up that allows other bloggers and readers to share whatever they want to talk about. Think of it as a virtual coffee date with some great friends. What’s going on in your world? Tell us all about it!

A few things to remember:

  • Each week’s link-up is valid from Wednesday through the following Tuesday. So if you link a post today, you can still come back and link another post tomorrow! In fact, you can link up as many posts as you want.
  • If you add a link, please put the badge on your post as well.
  • Each week has a new link-up. Please make sure you grab the correct Badge Code.
  • Be sure to check out what others are posting, and even leave a few comments.
  • You can now show your “likes” by voting for your favorite links.

So, c’mon. Join the conversation. After all, a great coffee date is one where everyone gets to chat, dontcha think?

Our First Winter Storm

I know it’s not winter. Not yet. But someone forgot to tell the Weather so. Because in a drastic shift of climate, our temperatures went from 75 on Tuesday to only 52 on Wednesday, complete with strong winds and stormy clouds. There was even a forecast for snow in the higher elevations.

While we didn’t get any precipitation, it’s been quite enjoyable to sit back and enjoy the ambiance that a grey wind brings.

Our temperatures are already rising again; the sky is already more clear. It was a nice tease of what’s to come.

Sunday Was For the Birds

On the heels of a completely reorganized kitchen and staying up late because I was the only one in the house (Yes, I realize I’m no longer a teenager. Thank you for reminding me!), this morning I slept past my alarm and awoke only when the Scrub Jays shouted in celebration. They found the food I’d set out for them last night!

They were gracious enough to let me sit nearby and take these photos:

Posing Pretty

Food!

Where to Hide the Stash?

This Dirt is Soft Enough to Hide In.

Another Helping? Don’t Mind If I Do!

Bird Feeder

More, Please. Thank you.

Finches Ate Breakfast, Too.

Hummingbird Feeder

The Hummingbirds flew away before I could photograph them, but I just love the look of the feeder against the house and sky.

I heard Old Blue squawking last night. I hope he’ll return for dinner tonight.

Rain.

Smell
that dusts worries
away.

Wet
that refreshes
my soul.

Plops
that look like
pawprints
on my windows.

Splats
that drum
a happy tune.

Sensory Overload.

I love

Rain.
