Frankly, On Faith.
The family table is where it all happens: It’s where the day is discussed over great food. Plans are made. Moments shared. It’s community at its finest. Serious discussion and laughable antics abound.
And when your chair is empty, God sends out His Son to find you and bring you back.
Because you’re that important to Him.
You bring something to the table no one else can: You bring you.
“Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous how well I know it.”
~Psalm 139:14 NLT
Don’t deprive the family of your company.

Frankly, On Faith: Take your rightful seat at God’s table.

Frankly, On Faith.
We say it a lot when trying to embolden ourselves to move in a direction we’re not entirely sure of.
“What’s the worst that could happen?”
But do we really want to know the answer?
If we knew the answer, would we hesitate?
What if we didn’t know the finish line, but we knew the journey?
What if the not knowing part is where we shine, where we prove to ourselves what we’re made of?
What if that’s where we say okay, yes, I’ll do it?
So, God says, “Hey. I have an idea. And I want you to be a part of it.”
But instead of telling us all the nuts and bolts that holds the plan together, He just whispers.
“I have an idea. And I want you to be a part of it.”
I mean, it’s God. Are you gonna doubt that He’ll take you from here to there?
“I listen carefully to what God the LORD is saying,
for he speaks peace to his faithful people.”
~Psalm 85:8a NLT
God is the One who cannot let you down. He’s the One who will go all the way with you. He’s the One who is always looking out for your best interest.
So, if you’re hearing that still, small voice. If you keep finding God trying to get your attention. If you feel Him gently nudging you, don’t question it.
Keep moving forward. You got this.
And He’s got you.

God doesn’t lie. He doesn’t manipulate, coerce, or push us into doing things.
Sure, there are times on this earth when life goes sideways or worse, upside down. That’s not God’s design. That’s the result of free will and sin.
You know what God’s design for us here on earth is? Joy. Peace. Community. Love. Beauty. Understanding. Freedom. Rest.
There’s at least one reference to resting in God in each book of the Bible. I’d say that means it’s a pretty significant message, wouldn’t you?
Then Jesus said, “Come to me,
all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens,
and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28 NLT
The thing is, we’re taught to carry our own loads. That it’s not “cool” to ask for help or slow down the busy pace of life. We especially don’t want to inconvenience someone else. Am I right?
But what if that part of our teaching is wrong? What if we could simply stop, take a breath, and ask God to help us? Do you think He would?

Frankly, On Faith: God Will Give You Rest
Resting is our body’s way of healing itself. Whether it’s just a day’s work, or a significant illness, during sleep our bodies are working to recover and get back to God’s design for our humanity. So is it really out of the question to think He should be our first Go-To Guy when we need rest of any kind?
Whether it’s physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual, God’s got this. We just need to let Him.

What does it mean to pray without ceasing?
Well, for starts, it doesn’t mean to not do anything else. I mean, we still have jobs to go to, houses to clean, people to take care of. But we can do all those things with a prayer on our lips or in our hearts. Praying without ceasing is to acknowledge that God is never ceasing.
“Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances,
for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”
~1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NLT
Now, I know not every moment is a happy-cake-and-party moment. Some are sad, frustrating, hurtful and hurting moments.
You know what? God knows. And He is loving you through every millisecond of it.
Even if you don’t think so. Even if you’d rather He not.
He’s still here. Being God. Doing God things that no one else can see, and may never see. But that’s why He’s Abba-Daddy-God. Because even if we never recognize or acknowledge all the good He does, he’s still going to do it, anyway.
Because He loves us that much.
And this week’s Bible verse is Him imploring us to see that He’s still here with us. When we know we are His, how much of what this earth throws at us really matters?

Frankly, On Faith.
You’re weary. A little unsure, a little keeping yourself in the shadows. There’s a lot on your plate and you don’t know how to manage it all.
But you know what? Look around: You’re not alone. Everyone has their own shadows. Everyone has their own food to chew. So don’t compare yours to theirs. And don’t be afraid. The dark is a little scary. Those lumpy potatoes are not what you asked for.
But look! There’s light ahead.
Take a deep breath, and step up to the plate.
‘Cause you know why?
You got this.
This thing called life and everything it brings to the table? Grab your fork and dig in!
‘Cause you got this.
“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good.
At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing
if we don’t give up.”
~Galatians 6:9 NLT
You just keep pushing off that wall, taking those steps. Any forward movement is good. Even if it’s a zig-zag pattern. Even if it’s a circle. Because sooner or later that circle will take you forward. And when you get there, grab the next one and leave the old behind.
‘Cause you got this.
And He’s got you.
Promise.
