I did it. I made the leap over to Comment Luv.
Disqus was nice for keeping track on what I posted as comments elsewhere, and seeing what other comments people posted as well. But overall, I like the friendliness of Comment Luv better.
I like that you don’t have to be a registered user to post a comment. I love that fellow bloggers can link to their own great posts.
It’s just a better community.
And, to my enjoyment, I realized I still have access to old Disqus comments because I only deactivated it, I haven’t deleted it. I just need to figure out how to export comments back to WordPress comment system in order for you to see them.
But I’m new to the techie stuff, so I’m workin’ on it.
In the meantime… Comment Luv. I’m lovin’ it.

I had my blog settings set incorrectly recently, which allowed a spam comment to come through as a posting, or so it appeared on my end. I deleted it immediately, and reconfigured my settings. So all is well. It wasn’t offensive, just spam. And it was my own errors that allowed it to slip through. But on the off-chance that a nonsensical post about battery life shows up in your inbox, I apologize.

I made my first ever cake today. My first ever real cake. I’ve done the Easy-Bake oven thing as a kid. And in my not terribly distant past, I tried the microwave/stoneware concoction. That was not a cake. That was a moist mush.
So today, I made my first ever cake.
And not just any cake, but a Lamb-shaped cake.
And it was incredibly easy. With Wilton step-by-step instructions and a little creativity, the hardest part was washing the dishes.
It. Was. Cute.
It was almost too cute to eat. Almost. Yeah… we felt really bad eating that cute, adorable lamby-pie cake. Really, really bad.

But that didn’t stop us from doing it.
And you know what? I’d do it again!

You know how somedays you just need a little pick-me-up? Well, that’s not the kind of day I had today.
Today, just as the several preceding days, has been pretty fantastic. The flowers are pushing up little green leaves from the dirt. The sun is bathing everything with its glorious Vitamin D. The house has stayed surprisingly clean. And last night I taught my Second Family that not all laughter is the same.
Today I’m baking my first cake ever. Ever. Evvvverrr. This fact eluded me until I planned to bake a cake for my wonderful Mother’s birthday a few weeks ago. That’s going to be a separate blog post, complete with photos, as soon as it’s done. It’s no ordinary cake, and I’m looking forward to the decorating part of the project in the next hour.
So. Like I said. I’m having a pretty good run on the “Have a Nice Day” chart.
And to top it all off, the mail man delivered this wonderful note:

It’s not as creepy as it seems. It’s actually from a life-long friend who lives very far away. Thank goodness for the internet keeping voyeuristic tabs on everyone, right?!
Anyway, I just thought it was really nice and worth mentioning. What great things have others done for you lately?

A few years ago I wrote a little prose called “He loves me. He loves me not.” Ever since then, I’ve had the idea to compile some of my writings, poems and prose, into a collection that explains my relationship with God and Christ.
It’s not meant to be preachy. Not meant to be One Size Fits All. Just my story, and the story of my Walk with God. The peaks and valleys, the sunlight and the shadows. It’s going to be full of emotion, honesty, and even denial.
One of my brothers has graciously given me permission to use photos he’s taken of desert wildlife to enhance the book, add visual drama to the pages. For this, I am incredibly grateful. So imagine, just imagine my giggly joy when I woke up this morning to find an email link to those photos.
I. Am. So. Happy!
Here are just a few of the great photos that he took, that I’ll be featuring in the book:

So far, the one I love the most is the one I call Desert Beauty:

Aren’t they great? I’m thankful to have these visual cues to help me format what I’ve already written. It makes my prose so much better, don’t you think?
