Stream of Consciousness Sunday

I forgot to write any postings today. I was busy selling cookbooks online yesterday; and today we celebrated Easter.

My mom invited us over for a new Mac-n-Cheese recipe that included diced chicken and chilis. It was fantastic. And we watched as the year’s first yellow warblers became twitterpated with each other.

There are two new sprouts in my flower bed. The sprinkler/drip system seems to be leaking here and there under my dirt so I’m anticipating a bit of digging this week to tighten up the pipes and put stoppers on the drips. Apparently, before I bought the house, the yard was full of flora and grass and whatnot. So the water has nothing to feed and nowhere to go. And since I don’t want another soft-sand tumble like I had a few days ago, I definitely need to get that fixed.

I have jury duty in a week. I have always wanted to be selected for a jury, because I think it would be interesting. But now that I have things like job hunting, two Bible studies, a yard to take care of, and books to sell… I’m not so interested in sitting in a room listening to who done what and why. So I’m hoping I’ll get excused. Or the whole thing will be called off the night before. That would be even better.

I used my food dehydrator to make dried apples, but I dipped them in lemon juice first to prevent discoloring. Word to the wise: lemon juice makes dried apples taste… not like dried apples. Lesson learned!

I need to organize my closet this week. I have a new plastic shelf unit to put together and use. The problem is, I’m not really sure how I want it used. A bookshelf? Business supplies? Miscellaneous catch-all? I better figure it out soon, though, because the shelf is going in tomorrow!

Well, that’s my five minutes of rambling nothingness. I hope y’all had a great Easter, a great weekend; and have a great week upcoming!

Draw Something

Tonight my daughter introduced me to the new game, Draw Something. It’s a game that’s played on smart phones. You pick from three words, and using your fingertip on the screen, try to draw that word for your opponent guess. It’s like a mini Pictionary.

So far, Dot and I are up to 33 rounds in the same game. Of course, it helps that we are usually in the same room and can give hints when needed. “What looks like a green egg and is used in guacamole?” “Why did you draw such a big cat’s head when the words was WHISKERS?!”

It’s pretty much gonna replace my fondness for Words With Friends.

Spring Has Sprung: Grand Finale!

Okay, I know what you’re thinking… It’s only April! How can Spring be over with already?

Don’t worry. It’s not. But my multitude of posts about it soon will be. This week has been dominated by yard work and beautification, finally getting The Unemployment Cookbook (click here for your chance to win!), a family birthday, and Easter weekend. Not to mention the usual housecleaning (thanks, Dot, for doing such a great job. BTW, readers, you should be jealous of me. My daughter ROCKS the housecleaning chores like nobody’s business!).

I was, in fact, so busy with everything, that I actually forgot to bake the birthday cake. But since it’s Easter weekend it’s okay: we’ll have the big family meal at Mom’s and I’ll bake the cake next week. Yummies two weeks in a row. Jealous again, right?!

So my yard is still pretty much a dirt lot. But at least now it’s a decorated dirt lot. Don’t believe me? Just check out these great pictures.

Dot loves her cactus table, and the shell planter. It looks like coral! The flower beds are just starting to spurt. It’s exciting to see tiny bits of green coming out of the ground! The Felicia Daisies and the Sweet Broom Tree are my favorite right now because of their vibrant colors. I’m also especially fond of the very clean patio alcove which took quite a while to clean and hose down.

All in all, I’d say the week has been a success!

Oh, does anyone know how to grow bacon seeds? Mikey and Erik insist it can be done…

The Unemployment Cookbook Giveaway: New Rules!

After a lack of response [read: not enough “likes” and “followers”] I cancelled the Cookbook giveaway.

Well, that caused a slight commotion for those of you who do follow and like.

So. Here I am. Apologizing for the shake-up. And offering you three ~ yes, three ~ chances to win your own autographed copy of The Unemployment Cookbook.

Previously, the rules stated that once I reached a certain amount of likes/followers, I’d use Random.org to pick the lucky winners. Unfortunately, I’m nowhere near the likes/follows that I’d wanted.

So I’m changing the rules accordingly:

1. The giveaway will end at 11:59 p.m. PST on Saturday, April 14, 2012.
2. There will be three separate drawings: One (1) for the followers of Frankly My Dear … (the blog); One (1) for the followers of Molly Jo on Facebook; and One (1) for the followers of New Inklings Press on Facebook.
3. No substitutions or transfers will be allowed.
4. This giveaway is open legal residents of the United States only, age 18 and older. [So sorry, Canada! Your rules state I’d have to have a skills test in order for you to enter. I’ll work on that for the next giveaway!]
5. At the end of the giveaway period, I will use Random.org to select the winners from all eligible entries. If you follow all three links at the time of the giveaway, that’s three chances you have of winning!

I think that about covers it. Good luck to everyone!
