- Writing is different than being a Writer.
- Inspiration is everywhere. If you know a Writer, your story will be told. Somehow, somewhere, you will be immortalized in Story.
- To write well, it’s important to read.
- Reading well includes a variety of genres, sources, and methods.
- Social media can definitely be a form of writing.
- Social media can, but shouldn’t, be a distraction.
- Being a Writer includes studying, researching, and daydreaming.
- Writers do not vacation for long periods of time on sandy beaches or in cozy ski lodges.
- Writers dream about vacationing for long periods of time on sandy beaches or in cozy ski lodges.
- There are descriptive words, and then there are fragrant collections of letters that grow together to bring a scent of peace and adventure to the reader.
- A good Writer is a bit arrogant and narcissistic.
- A great Writer will never understand why they are great.
- A great Writer sees their potential more often than recognizing their success.
- Writers dream. Literally.
- And, Writers dream. Figuratively.
- Words are our friends.
- And words can be our worst enemy.
- Being a Writer can include Blogging.
- Some Blogs should never be posted.
- A Writer is only as good as their readers.
- Writers are eavesdroppers.
- Writers are voyeurs.
- Writers are Storytellers.
- Not all stories are written by Writers. Some stories take on a life of their own and write themselves.
- Characters can be unruly children and do what they want regardless of how they are meant to be written.
- Not all people who write are Writers.
- Some Writers learn their craft and do well.
- True Writers are born and share their life with the world.
- Real Writers are nothing without their Cheerleaders.
And Frankly, My Dear… that’s all she wrote!

I haven’t forgotten my goal from two months ago to have a new theme to aspire to each week. I just haven’t had the chance to document my ideals every Monday. I have a few ideas, and I’m hoping to blast my way through several within the next ten days or so to get “current”. So here’s a start.

This one is near and dear to my heart, and fitting for any purpose. Whether it’s journaling thoughts that you don’t want to share, working through a creative writing issue, or hammering out this week’s grocery list… you can’t go wrong when you put it in writing.
Writing helps me keep organized and remember things I’d otherwise forget. It helps me work through my thoughts and plans and keep track with my goals.
Writing keeps me healthy.

I made a few alterations to Frankly, My Dear… and I think it’s a much better fit now!
I’m so excited at the way things are going; and they’re just going to keep getting better. Last week the planets aligned to put me in a better attitude and from those events (which I’ll blog about later this week), a new self-confidence was born!
I’m always at my best when I’m writing. I mean, really writing. Not just making notes but really working on getting a project closer to being finished. In the last week, I’ve grabbed that bull by the horns and worked.
A few minor projects were slight changes to the Blog, and I’m hoping you’ll approve:
*I posted a new blog hop: BLOG*HELP*BLOG*HOP. The full title is HOW TO WRITE A BETTER BLOG: I have questions. You have answers. It’s an ongoing Blog Hop where I’m hoping other blog writers and readers will comment and link up their own questions, ideas, and information about writing a better blog.
*I put a BHBH badge on the sidebar of my blog, so no matter what post you’re reading, you can click the BHBH badge and it will take you directly to the original post. I’m kind of excited about this, because (a) I designed the Badge all by myself, which is a HUGE accomplishment, and (b) I’ve received some nice feedback on it. I know it take a while to get noticed, but I’m hoping others will find this to be a great source of information and ideas to make each blog uniquely individual and inviting!
*I have partnered with ZipList.com for my recipes. ZipList is an online recipe-sharing site that also provides you with a grocery list and meal planning options. It’s completely free. You should give them a try!
*This excites me, because when a reader clicks “print” or “save to my recipe box”, ZipList makes sure that the recipe credits back to Franky, My Dear… and New Inklings Press. Right now, I don’t have many recipes saved to ZipList, but I have used them to format some. I’m looking forward to providing more, for both my readers and ZipList users.
*There’s a ZipList badge on the sidebar. If you have a ZipList account, or if you just want to see what it’s all about, you can click the Badge and you’ll be taken to their website.
Those are the major changes to the Blog. I’m looking into ways to attract more readers and subscribers, and in the last month I’ve discovered that my Giveaways have garnered some great attention. I love planning Giveaways, but I’m not always sure what would be a great prize. I’ve won some great prizes: Scharffen Berger Baking Chocolates, a Le Creuset Utensil set, even a Kitchen Aid Blender! I’m looking into trying to get some great sponsors, but right now it’s Me, Myself, and I… and we’re not really sure what kinds of Giveaways you might be interested in. Feel free to offer up some suggestions!
*Each Wednesday through the following Tuesday I post the “What’s the Word?” Wednesdays, Blog Hop. It’s a place for people to comment and link up whatever they feel like talking about. Many thanks to Ann from Doodles and Jots for always linking up some of her great posts! If you haven’t checked out her website, I urge you to do so. She’s so very creative, and always has some wonderful suggestions for children’s books and arts.
*For the past two Mondays I’ve been posting a Weekly Theme: that one mantra I cling to through the next seven days to build on. Whether it be something creative, smart, inspiring, or just fun, I plan to have a new Theme every week.
Those are all the up-and-coming changes right now. But as I am ever changing, so will Frankly, My Dear… I hope you’ll enjoy the new directions, too.

I know, I know… life is most certainly going to get in the way…

I went job hunting last Thursday and Friday. Usually I only manage to go out once a week, if at that, but I always check online everywhere: Craigslist, classified ads/Monster, county, court, company website… that list goes on and on.
I was taken aback last week when I found not one, not two, but three advertised job openings. Around here, nobody advertises because there’s so many people looking for work that their office would get inundated. Our unemployment level is one of the highest in the nation. So seeing three jobs advertised for applications, that says a lot. That tells me that the economy is getting better. That people aren’t afraid of putting money into ads or time into interviews.
The really exciting turn of events came when I applied for an office position at one of the local hospitals. Turns out I’m qualified for three, possibly four, positions that are currently open! How exciting is that?! And when I asked for other leads, they referred me to the employment service they sometimes use.
So I went to the staffing agency and dropped a resume there as well. Guess what: they loved my resume and will contact me this coming week. Looks like they might have an opportunity or two for me.
That makes me happy. I rediscovered that I actually having a day-work routine. I like getting up, in the shower, and dressed up before I drive Dot to school, instead of just tumbling into jeans and a sweatshirt. I like wearing nice clothes and meeting people and just getting out.
Don’t get me wrong, I have plenty at home to keep me busy. But I also have distractions. I’m looking forward to a paycheck while waiting for New Inklings Press to start paying off.
In the meantime, I’m still doing menu planning which is really turning into a fun thing. I’m working on freelance projects as well as the next book for my company. I’m taking care of those once-a-year cleaning matters. And I love having extra time with Dot.
I know there’s been a reason for me to be unemployed this long; and I really believe it was so I could get all my ducks in a row with regards to my writing career: what to write, how to write, how to schedule, set up my tiny office-in-a-box, and start my company.
But now that those are done, I’ve no doubt that God will now provide the income we so desperately need. And how amazing is it that after eight months of no offers whatsoever, there are six or more opportunities in the last three days. That says it all.
In the words of my favorite Pastor, “It’s time to work.” And I wholeheartedly agree.
Colossians 3:23, 24 [NIV] “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”
