Scarab Beetle

In my job as an insurance agent, I talk to a lot of clients about their homes and yards. As you know, I’m always on the lookout for how to beautify my desert dirt lot. I have great tips on how (and what) to garden. I love hearing and seeing the different creatures Mother Nature nurtures.

Lately I’ve seen more butterflies. Who can forget this beautiful Hummingbird Moth I discovered at Lowe’s?

Or cute, tiny Fred?

Two days ago I drove over to Mom’s for our morning coffee together. There was a rock in the driveway so I avoided it … read the rest. . .

I have a plan for my front yard. I have a design on a sketch pad. It’s rough, but it’s there. I have my Pinterest board for inspiration and I keep adding to it, refining my style and ideas. I have Lowe’s constantly tweeting their cheers for my attempts at making my house into a home.

There have been moments of clear heat, those days that have melted us into the submission that comes with a tall glass of ice water and no more exercise than button-pushing on the remote control.

And in between, in the days that allow for outside movement and recreation… those days are filled with the day job and the errands and … read the rest. . .

My Housing Project: The Tree Stump Garden

When I first bought Bedford Manor, there were three trees in the front yard.

Before moving in, I had the overgrown Juniper shrubs, Lily garden and miscellaneous items removed. The Fruitless Mulberry closest to the driveway grew so quickly, there were times driving into the garage felt like a trip on Disneyland’s Jungle Cruise. We made the decision last year to have it cut down [you can read about it here].

That resulted in the stump that I surrounded with scalloped brick and tried to utilize as a flower garden.

Unfortunately, Southern California just went through one of the … read the rest. . .
